More contemporary in nature, this baseball made its way overseas to Iraq and was signed by a unit from the 82nd Airborne Division in 2003. From the Civil War to present day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, baseball has played a vital role in the moral of the troops and as a national pacifier to those at home.
