1878 Tecumseh Trophy Ball and Letterhead

This trophy ball is from the May 14th, 1878 contest between the London (Ontario) Tecumseh's and the Manchesters of NH. The Tecumseh's won the game in extra innings behind the pitching of Fred Goldsmith. Ross Barnes was a player/manager in this game. The document, a letter handwritten and signed by 19th C. catcher Phil Powers, is from 1887 and speaks to offering a tryout to an interested party.
