1840's/ 1850's Lemon Peel Ball

Fantastic example of a circa 1840's- 1850's era Lemon Peel style base ball. This ball measures 7.5 inches in circumference and is constructed out of one piece of leather sewn together in true lemon peel fashion. Given that by 1861 lemon peel style baseballs used for match play were a unformed 9.5 inches, we can assume that this example pre-dates that period and that this ball originates from the true dawn of the Game.
