Folk Art Baseball Bat, "1884"

Vintage ring bat, with an apparent folk art inscription reading, " OUR NINE"; 1884; M.F. Walker; on verso..."Toledo Blue Stockings" (with gold decorations). Bat originally had two traditional rings on the barrel that were painted over when the inscriptions were added. It is 34" long and has/had a common "wafer" type knob. We were fortunate enough to be approached by the Toledo Mud Hens and asked to loan the bat to them for use in a Toledo baseball historical exhibit. The bat was displayed in July of 2006 as part of the Toledo Mud Hens, Triple-A All Star Game Fan Fest.
